ACL Wireless

In July, 2007, ibibo invested $12.3 Million for a strategic stake of 30 per cent in ACL Wireless Limited, a leading India-based service provider for mobile value added services to operators, enterprises and consumers. Founded in 2000, the company employs over 220 people and operates from its offices in Noida, New Delhi, Mumbai & Dubai.

ACL's robust and unique solutions in the field of mobile communities, instant messaging, carrier agnostic connectivity, billing and content aggregation have benefited more than 27 mobile operators in several emerging markets across the globe as well as over 100 tier-one enterprises, media companies and content providers in India.

ACL was declared as Red Herring 100 Asia winner for 2006 and has also been ranked amongst India's fastest growing technology companies by Deloitte, two years in a row.

 

Acquisitions – Bixee.com and Pixrat.com

In December, 2007, ibibo completed 100 per cent acquisition of Bixee.com and Pixrat.com, thereby adding strategic properties and technology to its base, enabling ibibo to capitalize on India’s growing Internet market.

Bixee.com and Pixrat.com are based out of Bangalore and founded by ex-Yahoo employees Rajesh Warrier and Ruban Phukan. In addition to all assets of Bixee.com including technologies, the founders and team members of Bixee.com also became a part of ibibo.

Bixee.com launched in October 2005, as a vertical search technology and is India’s first job search engine targeting the Indian market. Pixrat.com launched in early 2006, is a social picture book marking website that allows Users to collect, organize and share pictures on the web.

Recently Pixrat was identified as one of the top 30 startups, outside the US to watch for, by the Business 2.0 magazine, a widely read publication when it comes to technology in general.
