Senior Database Administrator (MySQL)

Responsibilities
You will be responsible for architecting and administering ibibo.com's multi server clustered database. Challenges will include:

• Database deployment and providing deep forensic analysis for problem solving.
• Providing innovative technical solutions for performance optimization.
• Forming database, query and procedure design guidelines, and working with the development team to implement the guidelines.
• Backup and recovery strategies, DR planning and execution.
• Continuous technical upgradation.
• You will also be responsible for :
  • Setting database configuration and change management policy guidelines.
  • Managing database change activities.
  • Ensuring continuous health of the database.
  • Automating monitoring for management by exception and Incidence response.
  • You will setup, manage and mentor a small team of database administrators who will be responsible for day-to-day activities.

• Proven and deep competence on MySQL Server 2005. Knowledge of setting up and managing clustered databases a must.
• Knowledge of data modeling and DB optimization.
• Knowledge of Open Source/Linux environment.
• Deep competence on database access using ODBC, JDBC.
• Drive, achievement, quality and service orientation.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent oral/written communication skills.
• Ability to define, implement and follow standards and procedures, evaluate problems and take appropriate actions.
• Ability to document and communicate system performance using documentation standards.

• Engineering Graduate (Computer Science/Electronics preferable).
• 6-7 Years in the IT Industry with relevant experience and skill sets as above.
